Mid-term Grades

This term, i have made a lot of progress as an artist. Before i ever came to Beaver, I thought and knew i was not a very good artist. Then when i started at Beaver, i started to see how i was getting better small steps at a time. First it was with the collaborative drawings, where I learned that I help other people while they helped me. Then with the pour exercises, I found that i could roll paint and turn it into different shapes. The Line Story Collage taught me that i had gotten a lot better at turning lines into all different kinds of metaphors. Finally, the Found Object Sculpture showed myself that i had improved greatly at Art because I even thought my sculpture had turned out well. Overall, this term started out slow at the beginning and then jumped out after i started to realize i had more potential in Art. I feel that by the end of this term, i will have much more strength as an artist, and also, by the end of the year i feel that I will have reached my highest potential.

My Drawing has been sacked

Today, we dropped everything and drew. What we drew though, was the interesting part of the class. Our teacher, set up sacks full of crazy and random objects. Ranging from water, to ink, and to a box. Our goals, were to start drawing the big general things at first and then incorporate the smaller things. The way i accomplished this was to take my mind off of the things inside the sacks and just draw the outlines. After I had completed that i moved on to the objects inside and drawing their outlines. Then i started to draw the little things that i could see, like crinkles and ruffles in the plastic. This class was very interesting because i saw how much i have improved at drawing since the first class.

Charcole drawings

Today, to make the drawing i had to accomplish three things to allow myself to do it. I had to let go of any feelings i had toward my drawing. Then i had to to shut my other half of my brain down and just concentrate on the table and the things on it. Lastly, i had to remember that this was my work and that if i liked the final product than it was some of my best work.

Objects into works of art.

Those objects are able to turn into works of art, because when you put crazy or different things together it creates even better things. Artists choose these items because they felt that by taking very random objects and thinking about different shapes they could think off. Also, by putting these together is a large challenge to come up with new things out of different things.

My first critque at BCDS

My first critque at BCDS went very well i thought. We all reviewed each others work and told each other about our stories and our ideas. We also told each other what we liked about theirs and what we thought they could have added. The critique of my art piece went very well too.

Ingrid Camale

I love this picture, because i can look at it for almost 30 minutes and still see different things. All the different paint types and line types makes it such an interesting work of art. It feels like Ingrid is a very creative artist and likes to express herself in all of her paintings and especially this one.

Ingrid Camale

Ingrid Camale is a very talented artist at her field of art. Her drawing and painting skills are amazing, she can paint the thinnest lines and they are perfect. She makes her paintings by seeing spills or markings on the street or ground, and she traces them with other friends or artists. Then she takes the tracings back to her studio and fills them in with paint, and then traces more and places it over the first drawings. She does this several times before she thinks her painting is complete. She does this because she feels that this is the way to be creative, she believes that the way to create art is to create it several times. Add Image
