My self portrait as a Wolf

I chose a wolf because I feel that get along in groups, but sometimes I travel alone. As well as I am not as generous as a dog but I quite close. I have had clay experiences in the past, but none were as successful as this turned out. The way I used textures was for his fur and the sand under his feet. Clay can be weak sometimes and others can be extremely sturdy, I feel that to be good with clay one must get used to this.

Reflecting at the end of the course

At the end of the year, I felt that I have made huge progress. I started off very inconsistent and had very poor drawing and artistic skill in my mind. However during the course of year I felt that I made huge strides towards bettering my abilities. At the start of the second term, I felt that my work had come an extremely long way from the first day. I was finding it much easier to sculpt things and the worst aspect of my skills which was drawing I felt had improved a lot as well. As I rap up these two terms, I felt that my time as a Freshman artist was the best it could be and that if I had not gone through all of the experiences I went through I would not be where I am today. If my life was a TV show, I would see the plot being where someone was bad or unskilled and through hard work and perseverance improved to the best of his abilities or close to it. I had a few up's and down's during these two terms. One thing that I loved was that I learned an incredible amount about art and sculpture. However one thing that kept me back during the first was my amount of inconsistency. Overall, I am really going to miss this class and I was very glad I had it.

Printmaking

During the printing process, I felt that it was much easier to carve out the rubber pad than it was to actually print. My final print came out pretty decent, it was not my best but it was satisfactory. The most challenging part I felt was to print, my picture always came out a little blurred. However I felt that if I was able to do this again I could make it look more like the Rialto bridge.

I See the Light

Soccer at Night

My goal during this drawing was to capture the image of soccer at night with the stands full and a goal just being scored still in the net. I arrived at this idea because of the numerous amount of soccer games I have watched at night and my love for soccer. The way I used the pencils was to shade and erase, however the goal I free drew and kept the same. While drawing, I discovered the darker you made it the harder it was to make whiter. I felt even though drawing is not my strength this picture came out very well.

Light

In art, Light plays a huge part in pictures and paintings. In most drawings of heaven light plays one the of the biggest roles in it. It usually has angels and light shining down upon it. Light creates situations and roles in all of art. In my Self Portrait, I used a lot of light to create lines and effects. Also, earlier in the year when we made the different lines my use of light and color almost made the drawings.

I am English, American and a brother

I am English, American and a brother. Looking back at my drawing, I can say that a couple of my strengths were my ability at drawing freehand, the amount of imagination that I put into the drawing, and how much I cherish my heritage. As I continued to think about my piece of art, I saw that the Treasure map I drew came out very well. The red lines that lead the way to the X are very easy to see. Also, the actual treasure explains more of the overall drawing, showing how much I care for all of the things that are in my life.

Alex Demaria

Alex Demaria's Collecting Honey specifically caught my eye, the way he uses the hive and connects with an actual village really fascinates me. I really like how he puts so much detail into one branch and then just has an outline of one, like it is fading. Also, the amount of detail and marksmanship he has on the hive and houses amazes me. This piece of art shows creativity and use of language excellently.
Question for Alex, When did u learn you possessed so much talent, and when did you start to pursue it?

Self-Portrait

While I was explaining my Portrait, I started to feel much more confident about my ability in Art. I shared my entire project, and the members of the feedback group reacted well to my drawing. They thought that it was quite good and that the story I explained from it came out very well. There was no negative feedback from the members which was very nice, which I think meant that it came out very well. Up to this point, I am completely finished with this work of Art, because at this point any changes I could make would be drastic.
